Jump Capital is a Chicago-based venture capital firm specializing in expansion stage and growth capital investments. Led by a team of experienced operating executives, we are value creators who take an opportunistic, long-term approach to investing. Jump Capital’s talented leadership team has extensive operating experience and deep domain knowledge achieved from distinguished careers in industry. The team has successfully led organizations, in both challenging turnaround as well as high growth environments within marketing, finance, pharmaceutical, transportation, and business services.

Sach Chitnis

Managing Partner

Sach is a proven executive with experience in diverse industry verticals within wide-ranging functional and general management roles.

Sach spent six years as an Operating Partner for Tarsus, a middle-market private equity firm based in Kansas City. His operating roles spanned companies within the logistics, marketing and pharmaceutical research industries.

Preceding Tarsus, Sach led the $670mm U.S. and Canadian consumer businesses for SIRVA, a Chicago-based Clayton, Dubilier & Rice portfolio company.

His prior leadership roles ranged from marketing to mergers and acquisitions, and included developing corporate strategy and incubating new strategic ventures.

Sach began his career with GE in global roles within their premier management programs, including the Corporate Audit Staff.

He graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rochester and a MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.

Michael McMahon

Managing Partner

Mike is a strategic executive with over 20 years of general management and financial leadership experience in a broad range of industries from financial services to manufacturing and business services.

Prior to joining Jump Capital, he was co-founder and senior partner for Excelar Group LLC, a provider of strategic execution and advisory services to corporations and private equity.

From 2004-2008, Mike served as President of SIRVA, a Clayton, Dubilier & Rice portfolio company.

Mike spent sixteen years with GE Capital in a breadth of financial and global assignments including CFO of GE Rail Services, and CFO of GE Card Services - Montgomery Wards based in Chicago.

Mike is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University where he graduated with highest distinction earning a BS in Finance. He is also an honors graduate from GE’s prestigious Financial Management and Leadership Development programs.

Garrett Vygantas, M.D.


Garrett is a physician entrepreneur and healthcare investor who brings over 15 years of experience in health care, biotech, medtech, diagnostics, HCIT and digital health to Jump Capital.

He received his Medical Degree and MBA from Georgetown University, completed his clinical training at the University of Pennsylvania, and undergraduate work in Biochemistry at Boston College. Garrett left full time practice and academics to join Genentech for the launch of Lucentis™, a $4B therapeutic franchise for the treatment of age related macular degeneration.

From Genentech, Garrett joined the Burrill Venture Capital group where he led investments in biotech, medtech and health care IT companies. Most recently and over the past 7 years he founded and served as the first CEO and subsequently as a senior executive of NewBridge Pharmaceuticals, a Dubai-based specialty pharmaceutical company focused on the emerging markets. During his tenure the company grew to 100+ employees, raised over $65 million in financing and created $470 million in nominal value.

Garrett has served on a wide variety of corporate and non-profit boards in his career. He is a frequent lecturer at UCSF and is Kauffman Fellow of Class 13.

Peter Johnson

Senior Associate

Peter is a former management consultant and investment banker with extensive experience leading strategy, operations, and corporate finance initiatives for organizations ranging from startups to Fortune 500 corporations.

Prior to joining Jump Capital, Peter evaluated, structured and managed M&A and corporate finance transactions as a member of the Financial Institutions Group within Morgan Stanley’s Investment Banking Division.

Proceeding Morgan Stanley, Peter developed new products and commercialization strategies, led pricing and service strategy assessments, and built models to monitor and improve operational performance as a consultant with Deloitte Consulting.

Peter graduated from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business with a MBA in Analytic Finance, Entrepreneurship, and Accounting. He has a BS in Finance and Marketing from The University of Wisconsin – La Crosse, and is a CFA Level 3 candidate.


Jump Capital takes an opportunistic approach to investing. Unlike most venture capital or private equity funds we take a long-term approach and are not limited by a fixed fund life or narrow investment mandates. We seek great people and ideas within attractive markets. Although our investments are not industry or sector focused, we are enticed by opportunities that exhibit these attributes:

Investment Size: $500k to $2mm per opportunity and prefer participation alongside syndicate partners



Jump Capital invests expansion capital in emerging companies that are generating revenue but are not necessarily cash flow positive. We target companies that have demonstrated unique propositions, commercial viability, and strong potential to scale. Gain access to the advocacy and support of an angel investor complemented with institutional-level resources.

We look to invest in companies with management teams that will execute the expansion plan supported by the invested time, capital and human resources that Jump Capital provides. We are not simply an investor; we have operated companies and divisions from small to large and private to public. Our commitment to our portfolio companies is to leverage our experience and advisor network to ensure a roadmap of long-term success.

Investment Size: $2mm to $10mm per opportunity and will lead or participate in syndicates



Jump Capital targets growth capital investments in established middle-market companies with strong management teams that are seeking equity capital for growth.

Leveraging a new technology, commercializing a niche product, expanding product lines, consolidating a fragmented industry, or increasing the geographic footprint of a business are core growth elements for businesses in which we invest.
